I've had my share of 'Network' problems when patching SWTOR client - so I just want to share an easy workaround.
Many people have problem patching and see messages such as 'network error while downloading patch data' or 'Unable to contact reliable source', and many have requested a manual patch. There are a few steps you can take to manually patch.
The process involves finding the download link in the log files, downloading them with any internet browser, placing them in the right place and restarting. This is simpler then it may sound..
1. Start the client - if needed, it will attempt to download the patch files and keep getting errors.
2. Open the installation folder - Typically 'C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsBiowareStar Wars – The Old Republic'
3. Open the 'logs' sub-folder and Use any text editor (Notepad) to open the latest file - 'launcher_<TODAY>.log'
4. Scroll to the bottom of the file. You're looking for a message which begins with : 'Download: http://..'.
5. Usually there 2 files to download - a 'zip' file and a 'z01' file. Perhaps there are more. Select one of the links. For example you should select 'http://cdn-patch.swtor.com/patch/assets_swtor_main/assets_swtor_main_56to57/assets_swtor_main_56to57.z01'
7. Copy the link and paste it in any internet browser. Save the file to a known place - you will later move it to the expected folder.
8. Repeat step 7 for all files that need to be downloaded.
9. Once you have all the files, you need to place them in the patch folder. The patch folder will be located in the installation folder, under a new folder which looks similar to 'assets_swtor_main 56->57'. This folder should already exist - don't create a new folder here. Place the files in this folder.
10. Restart your SWTOR client. Installation of patch should begin immediately.
